Over the last 12 months Suzuki has cut the OTR prices of 13 models in its lineup, with the GSX-S1000GX+ reduced by a sizeable 2,900 over that time. The GSX-S1000GT+ has had another 1,000 taken off its price taking its total price reduction over the last year to 2,000 dropping it to 11,999 OTR, with the GSX-S1000GX+ complete with its semi-active suspension, new winglets, and 36-litre panniers is just 12,999. Suzukis GSX-8T and GSX-8TT retros built on the firms award-winning new 800cc platform have seen 1,000 cut from their prices, dropping them to 8,599 and 8,999 respectively. Theres good news for learner riders or those looking for commuting solutions in the city, with the GSX-S and GSX-R125 machines both now 3,999, a reduction of 1,000 and 1,200. The reductions follow the announcement of Suzukis recent pricing realignment of its scooter range, with the retro-styled Address 125 only 2,099, which represents exceptional value, especially with the addition of Suzukis 10-year-warranty. Suzuki also recently lowered the prices of its 800RE and 800DE V-Stroms, which are now 9,499 and 9,999. Over the last year Suzuki has also lowered the prices of its GSX-S1000, Katana, Burgman Street 125EX, and Avenis 125. Suzuki GB head of motorcycles, Jonathan Martin, said, Over the last year weve been listening closely to our dealer partners and working in conjunction with our colleagues in Japan to realign pricing across a number of models in the range. The 310 hpe engine - the most recent arrival in Piaggio's modern family of HPE or High Performance Engines - is based on a very specific design philosophy, designed to enable significant improvements in the riding experience across the board: superior ride comfort, improved rideability, less noise and even lower fuel consumption. All this is accompanied by a tangible improvement in performance. These goals have been achieved by increasing the engine capacity from 278cc for the previous 300 HPE engine to 310cc for this version; this increase was attained by maintaining the bore and increasing the stroke. This has resulted in a less "sharp" engine - or in other words, an engine that is more focused on driveability than on achieving the highest possible maximum power output; that said, this still reaches an impressive 19.4 kW (26.4 hp) at 7500 rpm. The maximum speed is also higher, achieved in part through the improved aerodynamics of the vehicle: from the previous speed of 120 km/h to the new speed of 129 km/h. These values are lower than with the 300 hpe, going from 31.2 km/l to 32.2 km/l in the WMTC cycle. Ultimate safety: three wheels, ABS and ASR Both models in the Piaggio MP3 310 range adopt the ABS anti-locking braking system integrated with ASR traction control (Acceleration Slip Regulation). The ASR (first brought to scooters by Piaggio) can be easily disconnected and guarantees safety by keeping the rear wheel from slipping on dangerous surfaces like wet asphalt. Both launched in 1999 to do very different jobs, their birthdays will be celebrated at Suzuki Live, which takes place at Cadwell Park on 22-23 June. Suzuki is inviting owners to bring their bikes along to the event, with dedicated parking and display areas in the paddock reserved for Busas and SVs. The show-and-shine style display areas will be sponsored by Dunlop, with a free pair of tyres up for grabs for the owners of the best examples on display. The Hayabusa and SV650 feature areas will form part of a wide range of paddock displays at the event. An 853-cc engine, following the construction scheme of all contemporary Moto Guzzi engines, was initially introduced in the first version of the V85 TT with elements of excellence, including the timing system with roller tappets and aluminium rocker arms, along with 42.5 mm intake valves made of titanium. On the new Moto Guzzi V85 range, the engine complies with the new Euro 5+ emissions regulations and has undergone significant work to increase power and improve throttle response - and therefore torque figures - at low revs. This was achieved thanks to the adoption of variable valve timing, a technical solution that optimizes valve lift laws depending on engine speeds. The increase in torque becomes noticeable as early as 3000 rpm and extends across the entire torque curve. By 3500 rpm, 90% of the maximum torque, equivalent to 83 Nm at 5100 rpm is available. This further enhances road riding pleasure and improves throttle response, offering greater flexibility in low revs and high gears. Furthermore, the maximum power sees an increase, leaping from 76 hp at 7,500 rpm in the previous generation to 80 hp at 7,750 rpm. Another improvement involves the incorporation of knock sensors, which supply essential data to the engine management ECU, enabling more precise and accurate adjustment of ignition timing. This results in a range of benefits: higher performance combined with improved riding comfort and reliability. The engine's other fundamental characteristics remain unchanged. Lubrication involves a semi dry sump, with two coaxial pumps, one tasked with oil delivery and the other with recovery that ensure excellent lubrication and do away with the need for an oil radiator, thus reducing the overall weight. The semi dry sump solution has all the advantages of dry sump engines, without the disadvantage of the encumbrance of the external oil reservoir, since the sump itself carries out this function. The primary advantages are: less loss of power because of friction due to the interaction of the crank drive with the oil, lower maximum temperature reached by the oil and freedom of the bike to reach a greater lean or pitch angle without any lubrication problems, thereby allowing the reduction of the quantity of lubricant needed to ensure that the pump has correct draft in any situation. The oil sump is reduced in size to increase ground clearance and allow for assembly of the protective aluminium under-sump. Injection makes use of a single 52 mm throttle body, while with multimap Ride-by-Wire throttle control, a solution that allows for precise throttle valve opening control, not only optimizing overall efficiency for a smooth, rich delivery, but also decreasing fuel consumption. In fact, the Moto Guzzi engine on the V85 TT is extremely frugal in terms of consumption: it has few power-absorbing components (rod distribution and rocker is one of the most frugal in terms of power absorption) and has no cooling circuit pump or long drive chains or belts. Outstanding aerodynamic protection. One of the areas that Moto Guzzi technicians have focused on extensively is aerodynamic protection. This involved meticulous refinement efforts, including wind tunnel studies and numerous hours of CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation. Above the front headlamp, embellished with a new frame with a satin finish, is a new windscreen with a revised shape, manually adjustable in height to 5 positions, offering a total range of 70 mm. This results in a marked improvement in air protection in all conditions - the reduction in air pressure on the rider is 37% compared to the previous generation - and increased riding comfort, all while preserving the bike's sleek aesthetics. The reduction in air pressure on the rider has also been achieved by working on the now wider and more protective handguards. Furthermore, the addition of a newly patented cover at the front of the tank, precisely aligned with the ignition lock, effectively diminishes the airflow towards the rider's chest and chin. New instrument panel with 5-inch TFT display. Sitting on the motorcycle, the rider benefits from a completely redesigned instrument panel: the new, larger 5-inch TFT colour display allows better visualization of all trip parameters. The handlebar switches are also new, having also undergone an overhaul, with both electric switch-cubes redesigned to provide more straightforward and intuitive access to all functions, including cruise control. The technological equipment: the V85 is even easier, more comfortable and safer. The Moto Guzzi V85's frame, constructed from high-strength tubular steel, leverages the unique engine mounting points to form a sturdy framework. This framework not only enhances precision and stability on the road but also provides durability and a confident feel when riding off-road. The chassis layout is remarkably rational and efficient, and it has been further improved to enhance comfort and safety. On the V85 TT and V85 TT Travel models, the rear monoshock now features spring preload adjustability via a convenient handwheel. This allows for swift adjustments to the bike's setup when riding with a passenger or carrying luggage. The suspension provides ample wheel travel of 170 mm both at the front and rear, ensuring a satisfying off-road experience. This is further aided by the generous 210 mm ground clearance. The electronic equipment is also expanded, featuring the incorporation of a six-axis inertial platform (available as an accessory on the V85 Strada). This advanced system, equipped with accelerometers and gyroscopes, is capable of detecting the bike's orientation relative to the road; it records and processes the input derived from the ride and sends the data to the ECU. This makes the management of the electronic controls even finer and more precise, enabling the functionality of the Cornering ABS, which can modulate braking power according to the lean angle, improving safety. The ABS system operates in conjunction with an advanced braking setup. This setup comprises a double steel-made front disc, with a 320 mm diameter, paired with newly designed Brembo radial-mount monobloc callipers featuring 4 opposed pistons connected to the handlebar master cylinder via braided metal hoses. At the rear is a 2-piston floating calliper with a 260 mm diameter steel disc. The calibration of all electronic parameters - MGCT traction control, ABS and Ride-by-Wire throttle response - can be easily managed via the riding modes. The riding modes Road, Sport and Rain are standard on all models of the range. Additionally, there's a specialized Off-Road mode designed exclusively for the V85 TT and V85 TT Travel versions, designed to emphasize their off-road capabilities. This mode features the lowest level of traction control intervention, ABS active only on the front wheel with dedicated calibration (and the possibility of deactivating it on the front wheel as well), together with a smoother throttle response, assisted by greater engine braking. The V85 TT Travel also features the Riding Mode Custom (accessory on the V85 Strada and V85 TT), which allows full customization of electronic control levels and even the creation of an additional personalized mode via a dedicated menu. All models in the V85 range are also equipped with Cruise Control, capable of maintaining the set speed without acting on the accelerator. It boasts Suzukis most sophisticated electronics package to date, with a number of new and innovative systems enabled by a six-axis Bosch IMU and electronic suspension from Showa. The GSX-S1000GX is the first Suzuki to adopt Suzuki Advanced Electronic Suspension (SAES). The GX gets 150mm front and rear suspension travel to create an upright riding position, broadening the riders field of view and providing all-day riding comfort. The longer suspension travel also helps the GX smooth out bumps when riding over uneven surfaces. There are four selectable modes of SAES: hard, medium, soft, and a customisable user setting which offers +/- three increments on the selected base setting of hard, medium, or soft. Further helping smooth out those bumps and undulations is Suzuki Road Adaptive Stabilisation (SRAS). An original Suzuki system, in use for the first time on the new GX, it detects uneven road surfaces based on input from the IMU and wheel speed sensors, and, if required, triggers the Suzuki Floating Ride Control (SFRC) to help smooth out the ride. As part of the SFRC it also adjusts the electronic throttle valve settings to deliver softer, more controllable throttle response. The rear suspensions spring preload settings are also electronically controlled, making it easy for a rider to use a handlebar switch to quickly choose between auto or one of the four available modes they find best suited to their immediate needs or preferences. Riders can select between single rider, single rider plus luggage, or tandem (with or without luggage). In addition, the preload setting for auto mode can be adjusted by +/- three increments and the three manual modes can be adjusted by +/- four increments to match the riders needs more finely. The GSX-S1000GX also uses an alpha version of the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector. SDMS- provides three riding modes: active, basic, comfort. Those three integrated riding modes control power output characteristics, as well as the level of traction control, which, on the GX, is integrated with Lift Limiter (anti-wheelie) and Roll Torque Control, and electronic suspension settings. Riders can opt to use the default settings of many of those systems or customise them to match their needs or preferences more closely. There are seven selectable modes of traction control integrated with Roll Torque Control and Lift Limiter and three selectable throttle maps. Making its debut on the GX is Suzukis new Roll Torque Control. Based on data received from the IMU and wheel speed sensors, this new system calculates the bikes lean angle and speed to predetermine what level of power output and acceleration is optimal at that time, for example, when exciting a corner. It then reduces torque output before the motorcycle exceeds the amount of power the system deems necessary to clear the corner effectively. One key benefit of this system is a smooth operation and uninterrupted drive. With regular traction control the system is reactive, cutting in when rear wheel slip is detected. This can create a jerkiness or on and off feeling as the power comes in and out. It can also cause the rear suspension to compress and rebound. This is reduced significantly with the introduction of Roll Torque Control, as the torque ceiling is set, and then raised as the bike exits the corner and as speed increases and lean angle decreases. It is an extra layer of pre-emptive protection that operates silently in the background, with its settings determined by the level of traction control selected. Completing the GXs comprehensive suite of electronics is a ride-by-wire throttle, bi-directional quickshifter, cruise control updated on the GX to allow the system to continue operating when the rider changes gear lean angle-sensitive ABS, Slope Dependent Control, which prevents rear wheel lift when braking downhill, easy start, and low RPM assist. Benchmark values, which are immediately appreciated when accelerating from rest, that are combined with a significant reduction in consumption, for a range of 30.3 km/l in the WMTC cycle. The 300 HPE is the most high-performance engine ever mounted on a Vespa, a result achieved thanks to meticulous work by the Piaggio technicians on a large part of the components. The project sought above all to optimise thermodynamic output and reduce friction and engine noise, while increasing performance and general rideability, with category-leading weights and volumes. The single camshaft system with overhead valves has rockers with roller tappets instead of flat tappets, all to the advantage of smoothness, durability and a reduction of mechanical loss. The camshaft profile adopts valve lifting with more thrust and that is able to reduce the noise generated by the timing. Specifically, increasing valve lift guarantees better filling of the combustion chamber, which translates into greater efficiency. Consequently, the load and dimensions of the valve springs have also been upgraded. The introduction of a high-pressure multi-jet injector also helps to improve combustion. A more generous intake line, equipped with a duct with optimised length, improves the torque delivered at low rpm and ensures an exceptionally smooth ride at any speed. Last, but not least, the iridium ignition spark-plug ensures greater durability in the same operating conditions. Even the CVT continuously variable transmission comprises materials designed to reduce friction and noise, and the cover coated in sound-absorbing material further contributes to this. The engine is controlled by a latest-generation Magneti Marelli MIUG4 ECU. With better calculating capacity, it contributes to improving overall engine efficiency and also allows the engine to be started almost instantaneously, after just two revolutions of the crankshaft. 125 i-get engine, cutting-edge technology for the most classic Vespa engine size All models in the new Vespa GTS range are also available with a 125 i-get engine with electronic injection, four valve timing and liquid cooling. An engine that tops its category in terms of performance and respect for the environment. Engines in the i-get family stand out for the adoption of the Piaggio-patented Start & Stop system known as RISS (Regulator Inverter Start & Stop System). The system eliminates the traditional starter, replaced by a brushless "direct mount" electrical device, installed directly on the crankshaft. There are many advantages, not least a quieter start, increased lightness and reliability, and lower fuel consumption. The Piaggio Start & Stop system automatically switches off the engine 3 to 7 seconds after the scooter has stopped (depending on whether the engine has reached its correct operating temperature or not). A slight twist of the throttle is enough to instantly re-start the engine in total silence, as there is no traditional starter. If the side stand is deployed or the tilt sensor comes into operation, the ECU cuts off the Start & Stop function, that is, the engine turns off and will not re-start automatically. The 125 i-get engine is accredited with power of 10.3 kW at 8750 rpm. A figure that, on the road, highlights the standout engine, specifically designed and created to suit the daily needs of users in urban environments. These riding conditions are marked by frequent starts and stops which require elasticity, lively acceleration and a smooth ride. Qualities ensured by the excellent torque value (12 Nm at 6750 rpm), which allows the Vespa GTS to excel when it comes to the standing start and acceleration. All with consumption of 38.5 km/l in the WMTC cycle. Technical features aimed at maximum safety As is the case for every Vespa from 1946 to now, the body of the Vespa GTS is made strictly of steel, a sustainable material that is 100% recyclable and that guarantees unrivalled strength as well as truly unique safety and dynamism. The result is a particularly brilliant ride both in city traffic as well as on country roads, a blend of thrilling handling and reassuring stability, also thanks to the generously sized tyres on 12 inch wheels. Despite retaining the traditional single-sided swingarm, the front suspension has been updated in terms of its operating framework in order to ensure greater stability, particularly at high speeds. This allows for revised suspension calibration, which also contributes to the comfort and handling. The double disc braking system sees the adoption of new callipers and new Brembo brake pumps, updates that do not just translate into a significant reduction in braking distances, but also ensure ever-ready deceleration power during sports use and greater modularity, so that even the less expert rider will feel at ease. The Piaggio Group was the first manufacturer to introduce scooter ASR electronic traction control, once available only on the best motorcycles, to prevent rear wheel spin. The electronic safety control package is rounded out with the ABS anti-lock braking system, controlled with a new, more high-performance Bosch ECU. Always connected with VESPA MIA The VESPA MIA connectivity system (as standard on Vespa GTS SuperSport and SuperTech) allows you to connect your smartphone to the Vespa GTS on-board electronic system via Bluetooth and enjoy exclusive functions for an even more satisfying and fun riding experience. VESPA MIA and the new Vespa app are specifically designed for the connection of iOS or Android mobile devices to the latest Vespa models.
